Brown Rock

Named for an outcropping of cliffs near town, the Brown Rock Sports CafÈ is the newest addition to Deadwoodís landscape. But donít let the name fool you. Itís not your typical sports bar.

The restaurant is an upscale delight featuring a muraled baseball-theme ceiling, rich cherry wood throughout and intricate tile accents. Sepia tone sports photos and special lighting help set the dÈcor.

Opened on March 9, the restaurant replaces the former CJs Diner at Cadillac Jackís Resort, 360 Main Street. Brown Rock opens at 7 a.m. for breakfast and serves individual sports fans and families alike three meals a day. Take-out service is also available and in the future theyíll be offering local delivery.

ìHearing from customers, we thought we really had an opportunity. There wasnít an upscale sports cafÈ to dine in,î says Casino General Manager Caleb Arceneaux. ìItís really just an original concept. There is nothing like it or cookie cutter about it.î

A deluxe breakfast buffet is open from 7-11 a.m. Menu service begins at 11 a.m. and continues through closing at midnight. Featured cuisine includes gourmet pizzas and oven toasted sandwiches, and its signature dessert is a homemade White Chocolate & Cherry Bread Pudding.

ìWeíve been open such a short time but we sell a lot of our Hunterís pizza. Itís a meat-loverís, if you will,î says Arceneaux, adding that a close second would be the oven-toasted sandwiches. Oven toasted hoagies include a Hot Italian Roast Beef with Au Jus and a Spicy Italian Sausage. Among burger selections are a Chicken Parmesan, Portabella Burger and Brown Rock Burger with caramelized onions and Gorgonzola blue cheese.

Brown Rock offers four gourmet salads, including Walnut Gorgonzola, Chicken Caesar, Raspberry Spinach and Antipasto. A kidís menu is also available. And whatís a sports cafÈ without the traditional appetizers of Buffalo Wings, Mozzarella Sticks and Beer Battered Onion Rings! Menu prices range from $5-$26.

Another feature is 120-ounce table taps. Each tap filled with one of six premium draughts is 4-feet tall and is brought to the table where customers can pour their own mugs.

In catering to the sports fans, Brown Rock offers sports packages on 12 high-definition TVs ranging from six 19î screens at table settings and six 32î-42î screens on the walls.

Brown Rock is open seven days a week from 7 a.m.-midnight. No reservations are needed. For details, call 578-1500. To view the menu and restaurant photos, log onto www.cadillacjacksresort.com.
